This channel supports the work of the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) academic website and that of Huw Jarvis, its founder and editor. For 10 years (2008 - 2018) we built a free-at-source collection of 24 ‘Keynotes’ and 46 ‘Research Paper’ talks for applied linguistics students, teachers, teacher educators, decision-makers, supporting organisations and other researchers. We also host a number of ‘Featured Publications’ with talks from authors, this service continues today. For a small fee publishers are invited to tap into our massive social media outreach to promote their latest book. Beyond this we continue to offer a service to small and medium TESOL providers of: seminar\\conference events; digital products; courses and to support the work of early career researchers. From digital self & students, to professional self & teachers
This TESOL-based language education plenary documents an evolution of thinking which started with how student practices have led to a challenging of established thinking computer or mobile assisted language learning (CALL\MALL) and has gone on to consider how continuing professional development (CPD), life-long learning and personal learning networks (PLNs) can be realised, in part at least, in an online environment, with social media often being central. The talk seeks to bridge theoretical concepts with practical ideas.

Very interesting
This is very useful. Although I was trained to use the VARK method to help students. I haven't used it throughout my practice. I've always used a mixture of observation, getting to know my students and presenting the material in the best possible way. I think I can say that most of my students learn the content of my lessons. If one, in particular, is struggling, I try to work closely with that student to identify in what ways I can help them better. Thanks for shattering this old myth and releasing so many students and teachers from a closed box. While people do not have individual learning styles, some topics are better suited for certain methods than others.

Cahlllenges -in large class, need to focus on input giving dulu before the studetnt can produce, the tc give instruction how to do it -hard for tc nak monitor semua -buat information gap task (someone/tc tahu what others dont, so bila semua org share fahaman, semua org dapat) -to learn linguistic form, tc kna banyak buat corrective feedback, so bila student are in pair we dont really know how much corrective feedback they gain from each other, so tc kna be active in this sense

It was really interesting to watch your lecture and thank you so much to give a chance for me to watch your lecture in Korea. "High-stake" test is spread throughout Korea, and most students are getting stressed out because of the pressure about test result. The lecture of language assessment would be helpful for me to build more effective and positive test which can not only reduce student’s pressure but also be effective to measure ability. I really appreciate your lecture very much, professor!:)
Even though I will be designing the language test as a language teacher, I was not sure if language skill was something that can be scored authentically, especially in Korean schools. After watching the video, I am convinced that it is, with a delicate test designing process. In the future, I want to do some study to design more effective and accurate test for Korean students.
This video is really informative for me. I could empathize with your opinion about four assumptions for language testing. I also think that in assessment we can make students' ability scored and this score is somewhat directly related to their language ability even though the field of language is a kind of abstract part. Thank you for your helpful video! I will consult this video again when I have to assess students' ability fairly as an English teacher.

Reflecting myself as having conservative thoughts about ‘test score’ but after the video I am able to think test score as-‘currency for life’ which gives more responsibility to the test makers. We think test is objective and the reliable numeric. However, if we think the test is relevant with the decision what we want to make, it can be said test has subjective purpose which even makes test-makers to make useful test.
I learned more about language testing through this video. It was interesting to see the examples of cheating. It was good to see the process of trying to develop language testing.
. I thought the language testing was something that I had to overcome before. However, as a person who is majoring in English education, now I am interested in the fact that the language testing, brings various elements of linguistics. Furthermore, I could understand the importance of language testing through systematic procedures and methods.Through this lecture, I got a deeper understanding of the language testing. Lastly, In the future, I realized that I should be careful in taking the language testing if I take the teaching position.
Among the examples in the video, it was interesting to see the case that China used drones or required all clothes to be removed to prevent cheating.

"The scores student get from a test actually take on commercial value." represents the reality of Korea's education. As the test gets very important status in every fields of society we are living now, issues on the accuracy and fairness became more important and deeply studied by the experts. I believe!
